About project

The project "The 4 Seasons" arose from the preliminary surveys at the participating schools. We meet the 4 seasons every day, they determine our daily lives, they let us enjoy its advantages and let us suffer from their disadvantages. It is a project topic that concerns all partners and that allows all partners freedom for their own educational work.

The project has several objectives :

- The students and teachers learn by acting their own annual cycle and the ones of the other project partners. They write, photograph, document, do handicraft, research, present, are responsible for their work. "In passing" they learn a lot from other countries, children in other countries, other schools ..... The project will take place in almost all learning areas. Language and text work in the native language, measuring and comparing temperatures in mathematics, nature watching in the sciences, learning songs in music, the Internet research and creating presentations in word and image and sound in the computer classroom, etc.

- FELIX, the mascot is the "central thread". He accompanies and leads the children through the two project years. FELIX reports, together with the children, on the spot the other children from his experiences. Thus, FELIX becomes the identification figure of the project for the children and a symbol of "their" Europe.

- Objective is to promote students and teachers through the use of new media. This is also the relevance of the objectives of Comenius: to promote the development of innovative ICT-based content, services, pedagogies and practice for lifelong learning.

- Objective is to promote the mobility of young people in Europe. There are student mobilities of all the partners to the soccer tournament in Dudelange / Luxembourg and game festival (final project meeting) in Mehlingen / Germany. The geographical proximity of the 4 schools in the Greater Region (France, Germany, Luxembourg) enables more meetings.

- Another objective is the valorisation of ongoing and previous project results. Under the web address www.comenius-projects.eu is a common Internet portal opened, where also the former Comenius projects of the partners are linked. Project results are often lost after the projects, because they are not made public. This Internet platform as a kind of "Webrary" will bring together the results of many years of Comenius work and for others to use.

Creating the season dictionary on the Internet aims to learn the languages by the pupils and to promote heir interest in other languages. At all schools there are students whose first language is not one of the project languages. Even in these languages are season-terms posted on the website and will be dubbed. Also this is a relevance to the objectives of Comenius: To promote the learning of modern foreign languages.

In six of the seven partner schools are members of the school direction at the same time the project coordinators. Therefore during all working meetings an exchange about the different school systems will take place. Principle: How do the others? What can we learn for our school? There are also two thematic teacher training courses. The aim is the quality assurance and improvement of the participating schools. This also applies to the relevance to the objectives of Comenius: To promote the improvement of pedagogical approaches and school management.

With the project the key skills "language competence, computer skills, social skills "of students but also of teachers, will be sustainably funded.

The project is due to two years depending on the seasons and fixed in the work plan. The meetings are anchor points in order to reflect current work and upcoming activities once again to discuss.

The results of the joint project will be in print (including a book of illustrated farmer rules, four season magazines, a photo exhibition "Trees in Europe") and published in digital form (including the project homepage, audio DVD with poems, photo-CD with the trees).
